Electric Fence Installation for Homes and Compounds
A wall only slows someone down. Anyone who has decided to come over it will be on the other side in under a minute, and the first you know about it is what you find in the morning.
A perimeter electric fence changes that moment. The pulse is designed to be felt, not to injure, and almost nobody carries on after the first one. If they persist, the siren goes and you know about it while it is happening rather than afterwards.
We have been fitting them for 23 years, from 20+ branches. Installation is quoted after a free site survey, so you get a fixed written price before anyone drills into your wall.
The moments people decide the wall is not enough
Nobody fences a perimeter out of nowhere. There is almost always a week when something changed.
- A neighbour got hitSomeone on your street, or in the next block. Nothing has happened to you yet, which is exactly when people call.
- The dogs bark at nothingTwo or three nights running. You have gone out with a torch and found nothing, and you are still awake at 2am.
- The back wall is the easy oneThere is always one side with no light, no window overlooking it and something convenient to stand on.
- You are away and the house is emptyOut of town, or abroad for months, with the house shut up and a wall anybody could get over.
What will it cost?
Honestly: it depends on the wall, and anyone who quotes you a figure without seeing it is guessing.
- How many metres of wall, and how many corners
- How many wires you need along the top
- Whether the line has to cross a gate
- What the wall is made of and how easy it is to reach
Tell us the first two on the form below and the nearest branch will come and measure the rest. The survey is free and there is no obligation, and you get a fixed written price before anyone drills.
The question everybody asks first
It is a short, high-voltage pulse at very low current, about one a second. It is designed to be unpleasant enough that nobody tries twice, not to injure. People describe it as a hard static shock.
The pulse is brief and the current is tiny. For houses with small children we normally fit the wires along the top of the wall only, out of reach from the inside, and the survey settles the height before anything is installed.
The energizer stores a small charge and releases it as a pulse. It is not your house supply running through the wire, which is the thing most people are picturing when they ask.
Wet weather is normal for the system. What causes trouble is vegetation growing into the wires, which is why the survey looks at what is planted along the wall and why we show you how to keep the line clear.
Warning boards are part of every installation we do, on every side that faces a public way.
If anyone in the house has a pacemaker or another implanted medical device, say so on the form. It changes where we are willing to run the line and it is better discussed before the survey than after.
What a GoodHand perimeter actually consists of
Not a kit in a box. Every perimeter is a different length with a different number of corners, which is why it is quoted rather than priced off a shelf.
The box that generates the pulse and watches the line. If the wire is cut or shorted, this is what notices and sets off the alarm.
Normally one every three metres, with terminal posts at the corners and the ends where the wire is tensioned.
One insulator per wire per post. A sagging line is a line that shorts on the wall, so tension is not a detail.
Four, six or eight lines depending on the height you need and how determined you expect someone to be.
So a breach is something you find out about now, and something the neighbours hear.
A long wire on top of a wall is an aerial. This is what stops a nearby strike taking the energizer with it.
On every side facing a public way.
Every part above is stocked at the branches. The individual items are in the electric fence section of the catalogue if you want to see what goes into one.
How it goes, start to finish
The survey is free and carries no obligation. You get a written price before anyone drills.
- Tell us the perimeterRoughly how many metres of wall, and how many corners. An estimate from Google Maps is fine to start with.
- Free site surveyThe nearest branch walks the wall, measures it properly, checks the height, the gate crossings and where the energizer can live.
- Fixed written quoteMaterials and labour, itemised, before any work starts. No deposit to see it.
- Installation and handoverMost home perimeters are a day. We walk you round it, show you the tester, and show you how to isolate a section if you need to work on the wall.
Against the other two things people consider
| Electric fence | More cameras | A guard | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Stops someone getting over the wall at all | β | β | ~ |
| Tells you while it is happening | β | β | ~ |
| Works in the dark and in the rain | β | ~ | ~ |
| Works when you are abroad | β | β | β |
| No monthly cost | β | β | β |
| Deters before anything happens | β | ~ | β |
| One-off cost | β | β | β |
Cameras tell you what happened. A fence is about it not happening. Most of the compounds we fit have both, and the fence usually goes on the one wall the cameras never covered properly. If you are weighing the two up, our 4-camera CCTV package and the CCTV installation cost guide show what the camera side costs.

Questions people ask before booking
Is it dangerous?
It is designed to be felt, not to injure: a short high-voltage pulse at very low current, about one a second. People describe it as a hard static shock. Warning boards are part of every installation, and the survey settles the height before anything goes up.
What about my children and the dogs?
On houses with small children we normally run the wires along the top of the wall only, out of reach from the inside. Tell us on the form and the surveyor will plan around it.
How long does it take to install?
Most home perimeters are a day. A long or awkward wall, or one with several gate crossings, can run to two.
Does it still work during a brownout?
With a backup battery fitted, yes. It is an optional item rather than part of the base system, and the branch will tell you what runtime you are buying.
What happens when it rains?
Nothing. Rain is normal operating weather. What causes false alarms is vegetation growing into the line, which is why the survey looks at what is planted along the wall.
Can it go over a gate?
Yes, with a gate connector so the line stays live when the gate swings or slides. Mention your gate on the form so it is included in the quote rather than added afterwards.
Will it interfere with my CCTV or Wi-Fi?
No. It is a pulse on an isolated wire, not a transmitter.
Do you install outside Metro Manila?
Yes. We have 20+ branches covering Metro Manila, Rizal, Bulacan, Cavite and Laguna. Tell us where you are and the form routes you to the nearest one.
What if a section gets damaged later?
Bring it to the branch that installed it, or call them. You are dealing with a company with a physical address, not a seller who stops replying.
Can I add it to a wall that already has broken glass or barbed wire?
Usually yes, and it is a common combination. The surveyor will tell you whether anything needs to come off first.
